Local Boat Dives
Our local boat dives are based on diving one of the many varied sites along the World Heritage Belize Barrier Reef, deep walls, spur and groove, colorful corals and sponges, swim throughs, along with an abundance of marine life both large and small will ensure that your dives will be varied during your time with us. We offer two trips per day, with the first leaving at 9.00am. This is a two tank dive and probably our most popular. Our dive times vary between 40-55 minutes depending on the depth and condition and are generally multi-level. We provide towels, fresh fruit, light snacks and juice during your surface interval which is taken inside the reef and aboard our custom built dive boat. Our second trip leaves at 2.30pm and is generally a one tank dive and once again usually lasts between 40-55 minutes.
For our night dive, we leave The SunBreeze Pier at dusk and head for Hol Chan Cut; we gear up and get in the water just as darkness settles around us. Hol Chan is a Marine Reserve and Hol Chan Cut is probably the best night dive you are ever likely to do, there is often a current and because of the location and the fact that it is situated within the Marine Reserve, the abundance of marine life is quite literally second to none. The maximum depth of this dive is around 25-30ft and our dive time is around 60 minutes, giving you plenty of time to take in all of the spectacular marine activity. We return to the pier and while we are taking care of your equipment, we encourage you to enjoy a complimentary hot chocolate.
Lighthouse Reef; Blue Hole Dive Trip
We meet at The Dive Center at 6.00am for a light continental breakfast and coffee and our boat will depart the SunBreeze Pier at 6.15am. The trip takes between 2 – 2 ½ hrs depending on weather conditions but our large custom built boats are comfortable and there is plenty of room to relax and enjoy the journey. The first dive is the famous Blue Hole and with a bottom time of 7 minutes at 135ft to see the stalactite formations and a total dive time of approx. 40 minutes, it is a deep but spectacular dive and unlike anything else you will experience in Belize. During your surface interval we will provide towels, juice, snacks and fresh fruit and move to either Half Moon or Long Caye for our second dive (dependent on weather conditions) both of which are breathtaking wall dives where the top of the reef starts between 20 and 30ft, our max depth is usually 70ft with a dive time of 40-50 minutes. We take lunch, which is served family style, on Half Moon Caye where a tour of the Bird Reserve is a must. (A park fee of US$40 per person is included in this trip). Once lunch is over and you have had time to take in the scenery we jump back aboard and head to Long Caye for our third and final dive, we usually arrive back at the Dive Center around 6.30pm.
Turneffe Atoll North West
Following a light continental breakfast and coffee at The Dive Center, our boat departs the SunBreeze Pier at 7.00am. The boat ride is approx 1-1 ½ hours depending on weather conditions and we offer 3 tanks with fresh fruit, juice and snacks during your surface interval and a family style Belizean lunch on board our custom built dive boat. The top of the walls start at around 40ft and with a maximum depth of around 60-70ft each dive lasts approx 40-50 minutes. The corals are varied; the marine life plentiful and we consider Atoll diving a good compliment to your Barrier Reef experience. We generally arrive back to the Pier at around 5.00pm.
Snorkeler Blue Hole:
The snorkeling around the blue hole is good as the reef comes up to the surface around the outside of the hole, while you cannot see the stalactites most people enjoy the snorkeling, there are often sharks which circle under the boat which you can also see snorkeling. The other areas are also good for snorkeling, Half Moon Caye wall is about 25 – 30ft at the top of the reef, however there are many scattered coral heads toward the reef crest that are in 10ft of water. Long Caye is generally the last site and the reef there is around 15ft under the boat and 20ft at the top of the wall, this area has many schools of fish which generally circulate around the boat and a short swim towards the reef crest and you are in 5 – 10ft of water.
Lunch is taken on Half Moon Caye, which is a national park and home to the red footed Boobie birds. The Caye is a beautiful spot for lunch and the there is an observation platform which allows you to get above the tree canopy to see the nesting birds.
