At approximately 25 miles long Ambergris Caye is the largest and most developed of all the 200 islands, or cayes, in Belize. The island is situated 18 miles east of the mainland and is separated from Mexico by only a small channel that was originally hand dug by the ancient Maya.

The main town on Ambergris Caye is San Pedro. Established as a fishing village long before tourism arrived to Belize, San Pedro still holds its small town charm. Today, golf carts transport you down the streets dotted with fun gift shops and open air restaurants.

Belize and Ambergris Caye have much to offer travelers looking for something off the beaten path. Diving, Snorkeling, Mayan archeological sites, pristine jungle, incredible wildlife and some of the prettiest water in the world is a sampling of what the small country can offer.

Getting to Belize is easy as it is only a short flight from Miami, Houston, and Dallas. Direct Flights to Belize are offered on multiple major airline carriers such as American Airlines, Continental Airlines, Delta, US Air, and Grupo TACA. Ambergris Caye is accessible via air directly from the airport, or from the mainland by either water taxi or a quick 15 minute domestic flight.
